Self Discovery Knights

Self Discovery Knights is a series of various topics presented by the Counseling Center which explores a variety of student development concerns and self-improvement topics. Programs generally include a formal presentation or informal discussion followed by a period of questions and answers or comments. Programs are held in the various locations across campus and are free to all UCF students, faculty, and staff.

Title: Tolerating Spiritual Differences
Date/Time: Wednesday, September 9th   6:00-7:00 
Location: Cape Florida rm 316CD 
Description: A discussion about religious and spiritual differences. Explore different perspectives, beliefs, and traditions.

Title: Make ups and Break ups

Location: Wellness Center Classroom
Description: A discussion/presentation about relationships, emotions and stress that is experienced during a break-up.  Tips and resources on how to heal, how to move on and how to cope.

Title: Test Taking Anxiety
Date/Time: Tuesday, September 22nd   6:00-7:00
Location:  Club Lounge of the football stadium      
Description: Do you “blank” the minute you sit down to take a test?  Do you find it difficult to recall what you just studied? This workshop will address the anxiety felt during test taking known as, Test Anxiety, and a discussion about some of the ways to decrease the symptoms.

Title: Missing Home, Making Friends and Connecting to Campus

Description: You’re probably not the only one who has found out that college life is not all that you expected it to be! This program will address common issues that all students face being away from home or on their own for the first time.

Title: I Am Not My Hair

Description: This workshop will look at different ways women define beauty. In particular participants will examine the difference in standards of beauty between Women of Color and others.   In addition, participants will explore how to successfully negotiate been in a minority women in a majority culture. If you want to increase your view of yourself and examine what it means to be a Women of Color then this workshop is for you

Description: So you’re a sophomore now?? Need some motivation help with getting through your second year?  This presentation talks to you about skills such as decision making, planning for your major, and helping you see the light at the end of the college tunnel.
